HELP: how to scroll more than 127 scenes with a 127midi cc

Ok I've been searching for this stupid problem all over the forum but still can't find a solution, so maybe someone is so kind to answer me:
How the hell do I map a rotary midi encoder (mikrocontrol) with 127 steps to the scroll scene function, which could have many more scenes than 127, and make it work smooth?!? Maybe it's just me blind, but I can't scroll one bye one with the encoder cause, of course, it skip scenes.
Anyone to help?

I'm not where I can look within Ableton, but you should be able to assign the rotary knob as "Relative" in the midi assignments. Check in the bottom left when you're in the MIDI assign mode.

That was the first thing I've checked, but it doesn't seem to work quite right: it scrolls one bye one but just in a fixed direction. You turn the encoder clock or anti-clockwise and it scrolls only up (or only down depending on the realtive mode you're in).
Well, thank you for your effort Silverfish!
Any other idea?

An encoder that sends fixed values can't be used in relative mode. To use this mode the controller must send a fixed value when moved clockwise and another fixed value when moved anti-clockwise.
So my answer is: not possible.
Either use an endless encoder or two buttons to go up and down.
I always have 128 scenes in a live set even if I don't use them all. That way the controller value matches the selected secene and I don't need to look on the screen to see where I am.
So if you can limit yourself to 128 scenes, it's the best option IMHO.

Limiting the number of scenes is not possible for me, so actually I use the encoder for fast scrolling and two buttons for one-by-one jumps. In the end it's not that bad but a one-way solution would be more suitable. The problem is that I can't seem to find a midi controller on the market with real endless encoders (a one big encoder would be just perfect).
Thanks attackmode at least now I know it cannot be done.

Well the BCR2000/BCF2000 have endless encoders and they are both pretty solid.
But maybe you should have an eye on the upcoming Novation Nocturne. It has endless encoder and other neat features and it will retail around 100 bucks.
There was also some big endless knob thing from logitech the could be used to send midi but I forgot what it was called and the price was also 100 dollar I think so I would wait for the Nocture...
