how to delete midi notes remotely?

I'm trying to automate midi recording from my controller where I use a midi track to record the notes I want and then route it to different audio channels and record the audio in realtime.

However to be able to write the next midi line I need to erase the initial midi clip. is there a way to do it?

I'd like to keep the same number of measures so it'd be nice just to erase the midi info but retain the empty clip on the track. "overdub" would be used a rec on/off.

is there a way to do this from your controller?

that would be great- like an erase button on a drum machine..
you could hold the erase key and play the notes you want to erase and they would disappear...if they could do it in '82 i'm sure there's a way to make it happen...

there's this new feature "insert midi clip" that may be put to good use but I still haven't found a way to do this. Best thing about keeping the clip in the track is that it'd allow automation of track parameters like nudge or even playing around with the start/loop markers. When starting a new clip all that stuff goes away.

Best way would be to have a "erase all midi" button inside the clip. People have been asking for a way to delete all automated parameters from clips so there could be 3 buttons there: notes, CCs, and all. Better yet, pressing it twice would undo the erase.

the idea is to use it as a sketch pad. You play, when it's sounding good, you rec the notes, you let it loop while you do the tweaks and record to an audio track - that starts looping, and when this is done you erase the track and write a new line witha different sound.
