are you using pc versions of the plugs? when you install vst's in windows, they usually default to a steinberg/vst folder, this is in the program files, i believe. you could also create a folder on your desktop, store your plugs in there, and point live's custom vst folder to this location...sorry, i don't use rewire so no advice there.

well i thought that the VSTs came with the program..
so wouldn't there be a file for them under the ableton file folder in my programs list?
do i have to download vst's from other sites?
does ableton give you vsts
i will worry about the rewire when i get that far..

As dcease said, with a PC, you tell Live where your plugin folder is.
As for your Mac/ReWire problem, are you using an IntelMac? If so, you'll need ReWire 1.7, which is also part of Reason 3.0.5/Reason 4 (you need at least 3.0.5 to run Reason on an IntelMac). If you aren't a Reason user, ReWire 1.7's available as a separate download from the Props' site.

live does not come with vst's, they have their own format. no need to search for them, just click the second button from top, on the upper left... if they are not there, i dunno, maybe a re-install is in order, but they should be there.
www.kvraudio.com
is a good place to find free vst's.
