Firewire midi controller is quite a concept. I don't thik it would solve your problem though.
Did you check your Driver Error Compensation in the preferences?
Options > Preferences > Audio > Driver Error Compensation : set it so your Overall latency gets as close as possible to 0.
Also try changing your buffer size...
cheers!

I am 99% sure you are not experiencing latency on your MIDI controller. What exactly is the problem?

I've never seen a Firewire MIDI controller BTW. And it would be a complete waste of bandwidth.
Now, OSC over Firewire, that's another thing, or audio+MIDI, but just MIDI - no. No need.

Dead on there, I have MIDI on the Fireface, but it's nit a MIDI controller per say.
On this subject, anybody have any insight into MIDI Time Stamping? At one point Emagic, MOTU, and Stienburg all had versions of this available for supposedly improving jitter etc.
