Hey guys,
I've been using Live for awhile, but have never gotten around to upgrading past 5. Lately I've been using Live 6 on my school's computers, though, and I noticed that in 6 Live never deletes unused files, like all previous versions did. This is getting pretty annoying as my Live projects are getting over-bloated with audio files I never intend to use, so I was wondering how I'm supposed to delete these? There's gotta be a way to do it. Any help will be appreciated.

Go to File - Manage Project, from here you can see unused files and delete them manually.

Is there any to make Live do it automatically, though? It's kinda a pain in the bum to do it manually, and I can't see why anyone would want to keep files that they already deleted from a session.

Some people don't collect all and save, so they might have a lot of samples in a shared folder.

Personally, I just save the project to a new folder on my hard drive, and then do a "collect all and save". That only copies the files you are using in the project.

Actually, I've been wondering about this myself. And I just figured out the best way. In your Ableton file browser, go to the folder containing all your live sets.
(My is called Stick's Ableton Master Files, you know what I mean).

I right click on that folder and select manage all projects. It might take a few minutes as it has a lot of stuff to go through.

A menu should pop open on the right. You should see a drop down triangle for unused samples. (I think there are four categories). Select view samples under each category. They should pop up on your left. Click inside the browser and hit control - a (select all) and then delete.

Now you only need to deal with four folders instead of having to deal with each individual ableton project. I just did this an hour ago and literally cleaned about 65 gigs off of two hard drives. This is the biggest thing I've done to save space ever.
