Audio Damage "Ricochet" anyone?
Audio Damage "Ricochet" anyone?
I love all AD plugs, great plug-ins at a great value!
But does anyone already have this one? Any feedback?
Thanks!

Thanks! I love fluid and those because they're specially different, but simple, I do not want to spend some more money for something it's not special, even if quite simple, and that do the trick...
No one else?
I'm needing a good delay, but right now I have not much money... I was considering timeless, but it's twice the price of ricochet!
Anyone else? Can anyone compare Ricochet to Timeless????
Grazie!

Go for Timeless, you won't regret it! It's much more than just a delay and can even produce effects you wouldn't have thought a delay could produce. And the sound is just fantastic. I use it not onyl as a plain delay, but also as a very warm and rich sounding chorus, a special effects machine, a dub delay, a filter, and even for reverb effects. It's become one of my few "go to" effects.ernene wrote: I was considering timeless, but it's twice the price of ricochet!?
There are 4 delays in live... (1 Grain delay 2 Pingpong 3 Simple 4 fliter...)ernene wrote:Thanks! I love fluid and those because they're specially different, but simple, I do not want to spend some more money for something it's not special, even if quite simple, and that do the trick...

Seems a tad silly to recommend Timeless over Ricochet to me. I love Timeless, but its the pinnacle of single-tap(well, dual) stereo delays rather than a replacement for a multi-tap delay like Ricochet. It's a different effect for a different use.

You may want to have a look at MFM 2 also...I have both that and timeless and I end up using MFM2 for most things (Live's grain delay is my other go-to.) Can't compare it with the AD one personally though.ernene wrote:I'm needing a good delay, but right now I have not much money... I was considering timeless, but it's twice the price of ricochet!
Not really...for instance it's impossible to use any kind of effect except a filter in the feedback cycle (and there you have to use the fixed routings of ping pong or filter delay), and timeless' filters are far better than live's filter delay. (Actually, it is possible to do this kind of thing using track routings, but it is a pain.) MFM2 has a bunch of other effects you can put at the feedback stage as well (soft clip, phaser, compressor, etc.). It's hard to do anything more than a basic 2-tap delay with live's built in stuff; timeless has a flexible routing and MFM2 even more so. Things like Timeless and MFM2 also have much better modulation possibilities (LFOs, ADSRs, and MSEGs in the case of MFM2) built in, so no need for dummy clips and the like. MFM2 has tunable delay lines and takes MIDI input for the tuning. I don't have the audio damage one in question here but presumably some of this applies to it, as well; at least the flexible routing. It also looks like it has a pretty interesting interface for setting up the routing/controlling the taps. So I like live's delays a lot, especially grain and ping pong, but they are pretty limited as delays go.3dot... wrote:There are 4 delays in live... (1 Grain delay 2 Pingpong 3 Simple 4 fliter...)

(I do like delays...can you tell?)
sorry, but you can use any FX or combination of FX in the Feedback cycle!
You have to use the delay on a send and feed the send to itself instead of useing the feedback control on the delay itself. Then just place your FX-chain behind the delay.
It s an old Dub technique and you will surely enjoy it if you didn t know it by now.

Of course, you can create your own feedback cycle and put effects in it, and this is a useful trick. But it isn't putting effects in the feedback cycle of a delay plugin, and there are a lot of reasons to prefer doing it all in the plugin. Foremost being that with the return track method, you can't save the whole configuration as a preset for the plugin. The advantage of the return trick is that it's always going to be more flexible unless you're designing your delay in reaktor or something.Dr Dub wrote:sorry, but you can use any FX or combination of FX in the Feedback cycle!
