Hello, just like i mentioned in my recent post, I am checking out Live because I'm sick of Cubase...

There are some new questions that have arisen, they might be stupid, but i'll go ahead and ask them anyway...

I'm not really using the session part in Live, I'm doing stuff directly in the arrangement instead...
And what i want to do is to drop a sample into ableton (and whith that i mean a sample from a record), chop it up and use bits and pieces of it... I did this fairly simple directly in the arrangement, and was able to pitch different parts up and down and so forth, much like you do in Sony Acid. But i was not able to add fades to the start and end of the edits ("clips", I suppose). Can't you do this?! And ableton is supposed to be a nice mutitrack recorder?

Also, when i have made a loop of the chopped up sample, is there a way of putting the loop into some kind of "box", like cubase's region? so that i can copy the loop in the arrangement easily...

And if you can put the audio edits into a clip/region or whatever, can you copy the region in a way so that all copied regions follow the same editing. I mean if you change something in it, it changes everywhere. Like you can do with cubase's "ghost copies"... Remember that I want to do this directly in the arrangement...
This question also applies to midi clips of course, so i can copy a loop, and all the following editing in the clip is copied...

1. try editing the volume envelope of the clip(s)

for audio stuff, you can consolidate it, which will take all the bits and make a new whole out of it. which is then easier to move/copy, etc. however it's a bit more permanent than I bet you're looking for. but it will work

as far as later editing effecting all ghost copies - short answer 'no' but for MIDI, if you have a looping clip, then editing within the actual clip start/stop region will effect the entire lenght of the looping clip, if that makes sense.

IOW if you have a 1 bar MIDI loop but it is dragged out to 32 bars, then editing within the 1 bar (in clip view) will propogate out throughout the 32 bar clip

no such luck with audio

first thing to remember is that live is not cubase
live has a very different way of doing things.
