Hey guys,

Having major problems trying to connect my Roland TD6 to my computer, to try and record midi recordings.

Im using a Edirol UM1EX interface to connect the td6 to my computer. Im either getting nothing at all, or is it recording my beats in keyboard sounds. I just cant understand how to get it to record the exact same sounds as my brain

Its quite possible that this is a stupid question, and has an easy fix. what can i say.. Im a beginner,

By default, most Roland modules (including the TD6) use MIDI channel 10 for drums.

Also, by default, Live will record incoming MIDI data from ANY channel, but playback the same data using MIDI channel 1, rather than the channel used for the recording. It's not a bug and Live shares this behaviour with many other sequencers, but it's a common source of confusion.

So, set whatever MIDI track you use for the TD6 to output MIDI to channel 10. You do this in the bottom most "MIDI To" drop down. (You must first choose your MIDI interface in the first "MIDI To" drop down to make the channel selection appear.)

I tried all those things, this sucks. I cant get it to work. I put the input on channel 1... and i cant get any sounds to register. I put the output on channel 10 and cant get any sounds to come out.

I got something working for a while, but again it played piano noises... and not the ones frm my td6

I'm sorry if I'm asking something that's possibly obvious to you, but you did say your new to this. So I just want to make sure that you do understand that MIDI does not transfer audio?
