i am running live on a powerbook g4 with os 10.1.5. i am only doing this as a hobby and not on a professional level, so i am new to some to the hardware needed for multichanneled audio. how can i use the private listen funcion of live 1.5.1 what kind of device do i need to use eg: driver, sound card, pre-amp, audio capture device? whaterver?

you need some external audio hardware with more then one stereo output.
then you can route the prelisten signal to a different output then the main signal.
