i just upgraded both my emi asio driver (just released and available online at emagic.de) and live at the same time... i have only done an initial quick test with macos 9, but i was able to get > 80% processor used on my powerbook g3/400 with none of the audio dropouts that previously plagued me above 60% or so. at the higher processor load the graphic interface started bogging down before the audio one did, just like it should be!
if you're using this combo, definitely upgrade.
thank you to ableton and emagic!

btw, unsurprisingly, the os x version still starts choking in the 50-60% range with the emi and 1.5.1... probably need to wait for 10.2 to sort everything out there, along with the multiple outs

yeah. the new drivers really work well. and the sound manager drivers kick in when you are not using ASIO/EASI (no need to switch). this is the way i dreamed it would work when i bought the product. and now it does!

Hi,
Are you telling me it is possible to use the emi interfaces with applications other than emagic Logic. Could I use say..Cubase with the emi interface? I have been wanting to get an affordable 24 bit interface for ages, but I've heard bad reports about usb interfaces and only really good reports about firewire interfaces which are well out my price range. Is the emi interface a good choice in your opinion? How would it compare to the m-audio usb 24 bit interfaces? or the edirol usb interfaces? anyone know?
Thanks for any help,
Dav

i just got my emi 6/2m a couple of days ago. it comes with directX, EASI (ie logic audio) and ASIO drivers. so yes it can be used with anything pretty much. i chose it over the m-audio ones for a couple of reasons - the Quattro has no headphone output, and both the quattro and duo need external power to run, whereas the emagic powers from the usb - ideal for producin in the park.

is the new driver a multi client as in i could run reaktor and live and peak all on the one driver or would i still have to use the sound driver for that?
