VST Sync Problem - XP - Live 7.0.3

I've just recently run into a problem where if the RECORD button is enabled on a Live channel (in session view) containing a VST sequencer (GURU, iDrum, sequence based Reaktor ensembles, etc.) the VST plays the "one" of the bar a 16th note early. If the RECORD button is disabled on that channel, the sync works fine. I need to be able to record MIDI notes on Live channels with sequencers.

This was an issue with 7.0.2 as well as with 7.0.3

Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi wmayhem,

for me it seems, as if the plugin GUIs are just not very exact in their display functionality, which leads to their song position pointer within their arranger beeing a unit too early or too late. Depending on the smallest sequencing unit this can be a 1/16th or a 1/32nd, though it's caused by some kind of a mathematical rounding issue.

Note, this is a just view problem and it does not change by deactivating the Record button.

However the sound is always played alright here for me.

regards

Thanks, Henrik. I've never had this problem before but have used many sequencer VSTs. I'm fairly certain that it is not a GUI problem.

Hi wmayhem,

are the sequenced sounds from the plugins also delayed by around 1/16th note? If not, then of course it is most likely a GUI issue.

In this case, you can try lowering your plugin buffer size, to keep the plugin updated more often. This could help the plugin to keep its GUI better up to date, but of course it raises the CPU load.

best regards

To get proper sync, I have to set the VST sequencer to a 16th note late to correspond with the first beat of the Ableton Live bar.

I have plug-ins buffer set to same as host buffer - which is 512. I need to do that to work with my UAD card. Could 512 be causing this problem?

Thanks.
