How did you do it?
Did you use Trackteams MPD acces or did
you just update to 1.09?
For both ways a an easy tutorial would be welcome
and i would like to know if it's possible to do it and use
Abletons automap support at the same time?

FYI -

be careful if you try and upgrade to 1.09 - particularly if your using the mac software with osx 10.5 - ive read that lots of people who tried the upgrade procedure (including myself) have ended up with dead mpd24's ( i returned mine the day after i bought it, and now wait for the mpd32 instead)...

when you upgrade you have to delete the firmware before reloading - but the reload fails to start when using USB , and fails to complete the process with direct midi sysex ( also tried with several varations of sysex timing and other stable sysex loading sfw's)

Attempted the upgrade with windows after this also fails as the device is not recognised by USB, and same issue as above with midi port sysex

I lost an evening trying to fix this before giving up..

I think the windows version might be ok, but could not check..

go to www.akaipro.com . get to download page. download firmware 1.09, and Vyzex software. install Vyzex software. delete current firmware on mpd by unplugging, and pressing <</stop/rec at the same time while replugging. open vyzex, under midi, select transmit midix(.syx) file. navigate to the firmware you downloaded. select. the mpd24 will receive, when it is done, before you do anything else, close down vyzex software. press enter on mpd24, and viola! firmware updated. press edit, and a transport button. press enter, then turn knob to change from mmc to control. press enter. leave edit mode, open live, make sure that mpd24 is on/on/on in midi pref. go to midi map, and assign the transport to live's transport. save to default. you'll have to do this every time you open an old project, or something new diff. from the default, but once the old project is saved, it'll open with the transport mapped.

on live7.0.3, osx 10.5.1

after playin with it a bit, the unit seems to default to mmc, everytime the unit or preset turns off, maybe there's something i am missing, but it should be a feature. just push a transport button, and hit edit, enter, turn, enter to set it back, it's quick enough... for now

in case anyone is using vista x64 and trying to update, the Vyzex software doesn't work correctly with it.

exactly the same here... 10.5... vyzex... => dead mpd24

FYI joe90,
I read on that french forum :(http://www.laboitenoiredumusicien.com/f ... php?t=1585) that upgrading to 1.09 should work if you use the Uniquest editor, (not Vyzex!!!). The Uniquest software should be on the cd that comes with the unit. My f#ck##g CD is in box somewhere as I'm moving from my apartment. I should be able to try this out only next week... damn!!! that unit pisses me off (I bought it just before the announcment of the mpd32 which seems to be the perfect drumrack companion...)
keep us posted if you try to upgrade using uniquest... good luck

shit guys, that's pretty ropey stuff eh. Did you try forcing to wipe the current OS by holding down the buttons mentioned earlier in the thread? If that don't work, I'd take it back to the store, as it must be a hardware problem.
