Recording Audio from my Virus into Ableton...

OK I got a Virus TI synth hooked up to my Tapco Mix 100 mixer which is running into my NI Audio 8 sound interface. I used to be able to record audio from my Virus into live using a Audio track, no worries there. That was a couple of weeks ago. Now I have loaded the Virus TI as a VST Plug-in into Ableton and now I can't record audio from the virus into a audio clip with live now? I can record the Virus via the VST but I can only have one sound per track. If I have recorded a particular sound into a clip and then try to record a different sound on a different clip on the same track it changes the first one to the new sound Im trying to record. I can't record different sounds from the synth on different tracks because it only lets one instance of Virus to open per project. WTF is going on? I'm tearing my hair out over this. I have tried different monitoring modes (eg. In/Auto/Off), no good. I have my synth hooked up with MIDI into my NI Sound Interface, USB into my computer and L/R outputs into the mixer. When I close Ableton I can hear my synth. I can play and record my synth sounds via Acid Pro 6 and Cool Edit Pro. I just can't record audio from my synth with Ableton. Is it because I now have it as a VST? Is one of the connections conflicting? Is there a better way? Have I configured it right? It was working before I added the VST of the Virus to Ableton. Help me please!

set your patch to output on the analogue 1/2 not the usb bus...
edit: and the vst can output on 16 channels.. just follow the easy live tutorial that comes with the ti software, if thats too much, watch the easy video which also comes with the downloadable ti software

Thanks Timothy Allan

Yo Timothy
Thanks for the tip.

I checked out the videos and tutorials. Tried this n that to no avail. I need to get someone to come over and patch it for me. I'm totally lost. I have given up.

They don't make things simple do they. So damn complicated all this stuff. Why cant it be plug n play? Anyways keep up the good work. I got one of your tracks...'Superfine'. I got a remix by Kam Denny, and the Original Mix. Cheerz...Craig Mueller

hi
i have my virus hooked up just through usb and it works perectly...just open a midi track, open the virus control software and there you go.....what you have to do is this
1. open a midi track and the virus control software...ensure that ur actually recieving audio from the virus so u need to select that option first..
2. open another midi track....tell it to recieve audio from the virus and in the small drop down menu select which channel from the virus you want to play back on that channel....
so for example.....midi channel 1 = virus control
2 = virus channel 1
3 = virus channel 2 etc etc etc
That will work for you, sorry i cant describe it exaclty as i aint used my virus for a month or so and it aint hooked into ableton at the moment so i cant even double check
good luck man
