ableton will not load mp3's?

hi there,
recently ableton will not load any type of mp3 onto the audio channels etc anymore, as i am using it for dj work.
wav files load into ableton 100% fine, but mp3 does not seem to work at all..
everything was fine up until a few weeks ago, but now it will not load any mp3 file to ableton, and they are not copyright protected.
anyone know how this could be fixed?

there's a dependency on having Quicktime installed on your machine, did you remove it? Live does mp3s, there's something screwy with your system. what does it do when you drop an mp3 into Live? are you dropping them onto an Audio track?

no, quick time is installed etc and goes fine .
when i try to drag it on it just simply does not let me, will not let me add it and audio track etc

I was having the same problem. Granted, I'm using a lite version, but I upgraded to an updated version of the 6.0 software, and since then, I have not been able to import mp3 or AAC files. It's weird and annoying.
I'm running OSX.4 and all the most recently updates available from apple and ableton.

Which version of Live are you using? Live Lite, LE, full?

i had some issues with mp3 encoding while using aggregate device in os x .. could that be the case here?

That may be your problem. According to
this thread, Live Lite doesn't support compressed audio formats.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. The funny thing is that before I updated the version I have now (it was 6.07 or something around there), I was able to add aac files and mp3s. I had just done it without issue. Very weird that now it's not allowed.
