For some reason the auto mapping isnt responding.

I have an m-audio keyboard, when i click on the midi button on ableton, i should then be able to click on a button like 'record' and then press the 'record' button on my midi keyboard to link the two.

This isnt working at all, i worked when i was using live lite though !

check to make sure the device is enabled as 'remote' in the midi preferences

track = playing notes
remote = controlling things

Thankyou. I can control effects etc remotely but it just wont have any of it for the play, stop and record buttons which is a pain in the arse while trying to record.

When i click on any of these 3 buttons it wont even higlight them when trying map.

very strange.

should my input and output syncs be off then? i have them all on !

Sorry, im so new to using software, gone are the days of using hardware synths !

and the ext button isnt lit.

I can put a song together, use the effects, edit and most other stuff but its these little bits with midi that puzzle me

Start/stop/continue as far as I know can't be assigned to cc#s; in the MIDI spec, it's a dedicated controller that's defined under MIDI sync instead of continous control.

Use the spacebar on your QWERTY keyboard for start/stop.
