I looked it up because I didn't have a clue what a pipa was.

How about this one?
I quite like the sound of it, although the pipa on a synth will always sound like the pipa on a synth ;)

Loads of manual pitchbending neccesary for proper emulation.

A kanun (plucked zither) is a totally different instrument from Turkey and other parts of the Middle East. The pipa is a Chinese lute.

Hi guys, thanks for mentioning our Chinee Pipa plugin. Apologies for the following shameless self promo here in advance.

Have a listen to the audio demos on the page:

Some film composers within/without China have been using Chinee Pipa in their final production work already. They usually would have opted for a real Pipa player, but our plugin actually saved them from the trouble.

Windows only, unfortunately.
