How are the ableton templates on this controller. I'm currently using a remote sl zero as my surface controller. I'm attracted to the BitStream for the build quality and the joystick. Interested in any opinions on this controller.

Just don“t buy it!!!
The build quality is bad. I had one once and brought it back.
The Joystick was wobbly as hell and each slider felt different, not to mention the knobs.
Case is metal, components inside are cheap crappy shitty baaaaaaad....

same experience here. sold it.
besides that it definately has some awsome features (midi lfo, motion seq, etc.)
If you have the chance to test it, do it to see for yourself.

Apparently, if you can get a pre-CME model you'll be laughing. Someone said that the quality just went downhill when CME started dropping costs...

Huh. it looked like a really nice solid controller for the money. I guess I'll just keep the good old remote sl for now.

I own two of these bitstream
the first was ordered when cme started to produce this controller, indeed faders were not so good, btw it still works fine !
the second was ordered later and it is definetly perfect !
Great knobs, faders, buttons, everything is very robust and has a nice feeling, nothing to say about this second model.
To recognize the serie, just look at the serial number, after 999 the quality is perfect
