DJing with live sound interface

Post by lucifers303 » Tue Apr 22, 2008 1:28 am

Apologies if this topic has been answered already but can anyone recommend an audio interface that has a seperate output for monitoring as well as the master out channel. Need this for my laptop and so needs to be portable. Cheers!

Are you on mac or pc?

I use a presonus FireBox on a macbook pro.
Very good quality and not expensive interface.

Most portable are the Echo Indigo DJ card but it requires a PCMIA slot. An PCI Express card version is soon to be released.

Echo also make compact Firewire interfaces which are good quality, reliable and not too expensive. The Audiofire4 would suit.

Both the Audiofire4 and Presonus would be good options

Echo Audiofire 2.
Not much bigger than a packet of cigarettes and has two stereo outputs (i.e. one pair of mono outputs plus an independent stereo output for headphones).
OS X, Live 9, Microbook II

i use a M Audio FW1814. It has 4 outs on the back, which you could use as 2 as master channel and the other 2 as outs to you monitors. Also has 2 seperate headphone sockets on the front which you could use to monitor.

Its probably about 6x8 inch. I get my laptop, the FW sound card, a trigger finger and all cables (with a multisocket adapter) into a messenger bag when i am taking it anywhere, so i consider it portable.

there are others on the site too which may be suitable.
