... and I'll sing you a song...

I've already posted this on the general forum, but think here is perhaps a more adequate place to get some feedback.

This is the song I wrote:
A delicious waste of time, so if you have some of your own to waste, just give it a listen and see if you feel like dropping a line.

Tell me what you think.

Does the songwriting sound alright to you?

What would be some clues for further mixing?

You know this pisses me off that no one seems to wright back to people on this forum...or its just kinda slow anyway. More interaction would be nice.


Your composition seems good ...coming from me, a laymen. You could have low keyed the middle of the track, gotten a little more ugly in the feeling. but that could be just me ALWAYS looking for the darkness.
It sounds slightly like the Beatles, which is Big! Sexy voice! Flatten EQ on vocals @ 1k - up or block mic. on the "S"es, don't get me the wrong its goooood!!! I just hear a few spikes.

And if you have five or more of these tracks ...sale them!

I like this tune, the voice reminds me a bit of Rufus Wainwright..

The mix sounds pretty good to me..

I would work on the rhythm guitar sound, I would use a bit of gentle compression to try and even out the playing.. (Did you DI the guitar ? ) I think it may be a bit out of tune in a few places as well.

The mellotron esq flute sound needs something, I am trying to think what maybe a bit of subtle delay

Then again I think it sounds really good as it is, loads of character, bit lofi, intimate..

Thanks, I'll give a try about the eq thing. Don't have other tracks ready yet, but they're on the way...

Yeah, the guitar apart from not being very tight was roughly plugged directly in my motu ultralite, it's already compressed but quite discretely I must admit.

Delay on the mellotron? Nice idea!

Do you have any cabinet emulation plugins? could be worth putting it through to give the sound a bit more character.

oh yes, actually I've got Logic and there are some emulations , but I've never used them. A good opportunity I guess.
