You serious? There are some seriously awesome cuts on here...Johnisfaster wrote:hurry up and get it so you can be totally disappointed with the rest of us.
I always thought portishead portishead was on my top 10 best albums of all time actually. with memorable songs includedadventurepants_ wrote:im still undecided. i love some of the production, some of the sounds. but is it just me or have they not written a single memorable SONG since dummy?
where have the melodies gone?
it's been quite a few years since I listened to it as well, I can still remember most of the songs off the top of my head so I don't know about you but they were memorable to me.adventurepants_ wrote:i listened heavily to Portishead self titled when it came out, but a few years later i cant remember a single melody off it. i can hum at least part of most of the songs off dummy from memory.
you make it seem like if the interviewer asks "what was your process for recording this album and what tools did you use?" that the artist should not answer or something.beats me wrote:Why do people feel that if it takes a group a decade to release an album it should actually be good? Come on.
Have you read their interview in Remix? It's like their big list of suck, from ALL american music....to current Hip Hop....to Pro Tools.....to plugins...the list goes on. By the way, if you don't first record everything onto tape and then sample that then your music is garbage. Somehow Jay-z gets props. I also fail to see (hear) how they feel they are closely related to old school Hip Hop. Just because you may like something doesn't mean your music sounds like it. Portishead = Public Enemy, don't think so.
I like their music but the interview was a really big turnoff.
Have you read the interview? I'm fine with artists explaining how they do things in the studio. I have problems with successful artists saying a ton of stuff is total shit when it has nothing to do with them or the music, especially when nobody has heard from them in years. It's like a long lost relative showing up on your porch and the first thing out of their mouth is "You're all a bunch of losers. Give me a beer".Johnisfaster wrote:you make it seem like if the interviewer asks "what was your process for recording this album and what tools did you use?" that the artist should not answer or something.beats me wrote:Why do people feel that if it takes a group a decade to release an album it should actually be good? maybe before the interview they should have decided not to talk about recording to tape cause it would sound too pretentious.
