It would have to send pitchbend data along with the midi note, then you would have to ensure that the receiving synth's pitchbend range was set to a fixed amount (eg +-100cents)

I don't know if such a device exists yet

does cubase send pitchbend data along with note data to do this?

there are only 128 notes in the midi spec - it's up to the synth how to interpret those notes

Scala does this.

Fine tune? As in cents? Or as in the scales you're talking about. In case of the latter you should just use Live's own Scale plug. Cake.

Does sound a lot like you're not talking about "FINE" tuning, but more like regular "dur or mol" (major or minor in English, Mark).

If that's the case, then the Scale midi plugin is for you. Also, making remarks about "serious production" is troll-bait of the worst kind ;)

I've been wondering how to make Scala run for a while and any help would be appreciated. I'm running it on a 2 GHZ MacBook running OSX Tiger. When I click on its icon it opens, but then there doesn't seem to be anyway to even open a window. What am I missing here?

the scale plugin will do what you've asked for. have a look at http://newheiser.googlepages.com/musicandmodes to find out about modes, including phrygian. microtuning is a different matter though...
