it's like a new subgenre of electro/house. its very intense music featuring dramatic strings. for example Stress by Justice, Sharkstep by Flufftronix. it seems to be picking up...lol soon we'll be hearing fuckin Tchaikovsky remixes.

Led Zeppelin did the same in the late 70s mate and there would be plenty of other examples from the same era.

Strings have always been in electronic music, sure Books Shade is making them hot right now, but don't forget Strings Of life came out in '89.

lol @ strings have been in electronic music forever. i know strings have been in electronic music for a long time, but these are like cinematic strings.

see the start of those 2 videos have really dramatic/cinematic type strings. I'm looking for a compilation or album with a bunch of similar songs. really wanna sample some strings like that. anyone know any good compilations , certain albums/composers? or can point me in the direction of stuff like this. it'd be really appreciated. cheers.

Why dont you try sample the radio?

Theres clasical music 24/7 over here, i sample from there a lot. Also contemporary jazz programs can be fun.

you can also try: http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/

Happy sampling :)

ya i guess but the radio doesnt have such intense msuic. like i wanna sample intense pieces of music like John Williams Jaws type intensity if you now what i mean. i guess maybe the ableton forum just isn't the place to ask about cinematic dramatic composers.
