Ever since 7.0.0.5 I can't save my sets as a self contained project. I have no
idea how to fix this issue.

Any help you could give me would be great. anyone! Even a caveman!

Well, I don't know. I save all my set in one folder called "sets". I got used to the idea that when I save anything good I save it in a "self contained folder inside "sets". I try to save a new song as self contained and all it gives me is a .als file. No new project folder no samples containing my work.

any ideas?

Hello,

You can´t create project folders within project folders. Try to "save as" and define
a new directory, then use "collect all and save".

Yes your right, I knew this already but after looking through the file structure more throughly I did find files that seemed tobe out of place, probably due to a overwrite of some previous installation. Thanks

Actually you can nest project folders since Live 7

It behaves a little funny during management, but it can be useful.

best not try to nest a project while it's sets are open in Live at the moment..

I have got some crashes that way.

Why would you want to nest projects?
I don't understand why this would be useful?

The main advantage of a project folder is that you can use the "manage project" command on it.

So for example if you had several projects inside an outer project folder, you could delete unused samples across all the inner projects at once, etc.


You could fix missing samples across all your projects at once...

which I have not explored or tested fully but could be a really convenient way to display sets,

if in fact they stayed properly linked to the contents of their project folder

that's kind of confusing but here's a representation of what I saw:

Your Talking about stringing projects together. For what reason?

and Ive somewhat done that before unknowingly and had to fix it after I had changed some sample that was not referenced in that project folder. If links are broken you might lose in the long run. better just save everything to wave files and pasting them into a master set for mix down final finish up.

maybe it's just not up your alley, which is fine.

Certainly it can make sense to collect all your projects in one folder, but this parent folder should not be a project itself.
If you wish to manage all these projects together, you can always right-click (ctrl-click on Mac) on this parent folder in the browser, and use "Manage all projects".

Tested more,,

This isn't a helpful feature. Anyway it only happens if you drag a project folder inside another one. It is not relevant if you start from scratch.
