hi. just started home recording.
i am looking for a good CHEAP vocal microphone. as right now, im using what i have (sure sm 58) which isn't really ideal for home recording.dont get the best sounds.
so what microphone should i buy, anyone know any good budget vocal microphones?

I used to use a Blue Ball mic. It was wicked.
Also Samson do some nice condensers quite cheap.

SE 2200 A is a good one, but might be just too expensive... What's your budget?

Actually the SM58 might be just fine. Before I got a large diaphragm one I used a SM58 copy. And that just blends beautifully in the mix. Sure it's not as nuanced as my other one (a Behringer condenser), but it records a nice soft, mellow vocal sound.
I say learn your SM58.

Studio Projects C1 is an awesome vocal mic for the money.

AKG Perception 100. Should be about 120 bucks in the US.
Why? It's made by AKG for a start - ok, assembed in China hence the lo cost...but it's a truly great lil mic.
Or the cheaper end of the Audio Technica range will suit you. Don't buy Samson, Behringer or any of that nasty fizzy shit....they're not worth the meagre savings you'll make.
Personally, and this is of no use to you at your stage, but if I could only buy one condenser mic to use on everything it'd be the AKG C414.
Oh, I second the SM58 suggestion too...and if you remove the grill it's pretty much an SM57 so you get the best of both worlds.

Almost forgot -

It's cheaper then the C1 and gets almost universal praise from folks who know whereof they speak.

i got a cad gxl 2400, boom stand an 25 ft xlr cable(all new factory sealed) for like $105 on ebay a year ago. exellent mic. make sure your pre-amp has a pad button though cause its very, very sensitive.
