totally new to Live, got a question for using it live.
I want to program drum and pad sections so that it only comes on just before chorus part starts. Is there a way to program Live so that when it sees a combination of certain chords in sequence, it then start the playing the pre-programmed drums? And play it according to my playing tempo? Also, is it possible to loop certain part of the song on the fly?
thanks.

boba, what are you playing?
Assuming you play keyboards and feed midi into live:
- there is no way to have live "recognize" a certain chord pattern and use that as a trigger. Maybe you could program something like this using max or pd. but it will probably be more easy to just assign a button or a key as a trigger.
- live can not follow your tempo. you have to follow it's tempo. you can sync live to an exgternal midi clock. you have a tab-tempo button, but it's not like listening to you and finding the tempo.
I believe what you expecte will be done by live in one or two years. "intelligent"-music-recognition ...

if your smart about things, use the trigger functions, and follow actions

bagle - what the fuck u on about man?
boba, you could also assign the tap tempo to an unplayed note on the midi keyboard and just tap it 4 times while you play. the 4 taps act as a count in so after 4 taps the beat/backing track will come in in time.

if you're using midi instruments, this is something Max/MSP could do fairly easily.

what i ment is that because live cant recognise chords and start playing clips like boba wants..
using the launch section of clips he could easily get them to start playing and and even loop for him by pressing just one button..
much easier then programming MAX/MSP for him i imagine
