how much do you use as global quantization and most importantly, why?
what are the (dis)advantages of using a higher or lower global quant. ?

1/4 is best.

1bar and above: Loads of freedom to trigger and then do other stuff (waving hands, doing ketamine) - less room for error, but if you DO miss a cue you're in for a longer wait to fix it, too.
below 1 bar: More flexibility in terms of expression - doing retriggering of stuff, even "playing" sounds in clip form. More room for error!

You might want to set quantization to 1 day or so while doing that!

is it a dj set? is it a live pa? how 'quick on the draw' are you?
i generally use 1 bar for live pa and dj sets and none when i play w/ a band.
