Hello,

I`m having seriously problems with macbook pro+motu ultralite.

After restart motu works fine, but after 10-60 min., I see CPU going about 300% and sound stops, the motu ultralite ist still available in the audio preferences, but sound has stopped.
Reconnecting makes the whole motu go crazy and there are heavy crackles at 10 Output channels.

From the beginning I had these problems with the motu ulralite and there are a lot of threads in the web with the same problem. And I don`t talk about CPU Spikes here!!!

There was a post here about the Firewire SDK 23, that one solved the problem at mac osx 10.4..

After having troubles over one year with this f.... gear I will sell it and I would recommend not to buy a motu ultralite!

Do anyone have the same problems here?

macbook pro 1.83 ghz, 2 gB ram, Mac OsX 10.5
Live 7.05
Firmware 1.1.5/Motu Audioinstaller for 10.5. (hahahaha)
started already with fresh system, same results!

Hello,

Did you try a reset of the Ultralite?
To my knowledge, you can reset the Ultralite back to it's Factory Defaults by pushing the Page/ Setup button and
then scrolling it to the right until you get to the Factory Defaults page.
You will then be instructed to push the Value knob twice.

best,
Christian

I don't know if this will help, but I was having problems with my Ultralite causing crashes with my iMac. I narrowed it down to the gear hooked into my Ultralite (specifically other firewire gear), not the Ultralite itself. This doesn't necessarily relate to your problem, but if you have other gear hooked into it, try unhooking it and see if that helps.

Hi,

I did already reset the ultralite and it didn`t change that behaviour, I`m testing the ultralite now at an macmini and it seems to work fine! These days I got the mackie onyx and the interface is just shown in the fresh system of the macbook, there`s something strange going on at the macbook, but the onyx seems to work fine.

Could it be my firewire-port at the laptop is damaged? How can I test that? Or could it be that the ultralite is just not working right with the first generation of macs with 1.83 ghz?

Well, thanx a lot again Mr.Kleine....

did you have the sample rate the same on the ultralite and ableton?

sometime conflicting sample rates can cause this problem
