Live Lite 7 M-Audio Enhanced (DON'T DO IT!)

So, what's the point?

"Please note that video support, MIDI out, Complex Warp Mode and
Freeze were available in Live Lite 6 but have been removed from Live
Lite 7. If you really need to be able to work with these missing
features, you should use Live Lite 6 instead."

So, you love video support, midi out, complex warping, and freeze... that sounds kind of like a downgrade to me. And judging by the "Advantages of upgrading" page, it looks like you don't get drum racks, rack editing, and whatever "much more" might be. So... really... what's the point? Time signature automation? A spiffy new EQ and Compressor? Or is that part of "Much more"?

If anyone has taken this "upgrade", please fill me in on what I should expect. What features do you get with Ableton live lite 7 m-audio enhanced that you don't get with Live Lite 6 (aside from a longer name)?

Hi, where's the quote from?

This is on the ableton live lite 7 product page:
Live Lite is limited to eight audio/MIDI tracks, four simultaneous built-in audio effects, four built-in instruments, two AU/VST effects and two AU/VST instruments per project.
I haven't loaded it yet, but up to 8 audio tracks or 4 intruments sound like a great update ... I think you can just keep 6 for video etc. And how on earth do you need freeze with the lite versions?

Free updates since Live Delta (that was Live 2!), I love it ;)

Well, losing video support and complex warping is a real bummer. But, if you get 8 audio tracks, I'm there... I can't take resampling anymore, lol.

DO NOT UPGRADE!!!!!

Ok, I took the plunge and I now have information for the masses.

Things you should know:

1. You now have a TOTAL of 8 tracks. Notice I didn't say audio or midi. You can use any combination you want. Awesome.
2. Full rewire support (Not sure if it did before)
3. 4 session view scenes (forgot what it had before)
4. Can now change time signature in-song. BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD!!!
5. You have a total of 4 Audio Effects as opposed to 2. Awesome.
6. Video export, except video is disabled. The point in this is confusing...
7. Better compressor
8. Sidechaining
9. Drum racks (so far doesn't make sense for users that don't have 4x4 pads. I have 2x4 and thus can't use the 2nd row. You also, to my knowledge, can't drag one pad to another slot to fix the problem (because it scrolls 3 rows at a time. It'd be nice to be able to adjust how many rows is scrolls)
10. Slicing
11. Better EQ 8
12. Better hi-quality modes
13. Spectrum. VERY happy to have this.
14. Multiple automation lanes. It's very nice (in Borat voice)
15. Nudge
16. Hardware integration (crippled because of midi out being removed)
17. Better Audio engine.

OH, and last, but not least...
If you have effects racks from version 6, they will be GONE. Think of that before you lose all of your presets and thus, a lot of material.

video support, MIDI out, Complex Warp Mode and
Freeze have been removed.

If I've missed anything, let me know...

Well, it appears I have left something out. Something INCREDIBLY important, and deal breaking...

Yes, you get 4 effects now. That's all good and dandy, but you can't group them anymore. Before, you can only have two tracks with effects, but at least you could group them and do something useful. Now, you can't do that. I wouldn't be as limiting if I had more return tracks, but I don't.

At this point, Tracktion is much more useful to me. How do I revert everything back to Live Lite 6? I already converted my library and files to 7 before I realized how stupid this was going to be.

Is this "M-Audio Enchanced" version any different from the free "Live Lite 7" upgrade that's available on the Ableton website?

I'm pretty sure it's the same thing.

Oh, to make matters worse, I've now lost ALL OF MY EFFECTS RACKS! Thanks Ableton. Now, all of my presets that have more than 1 effect don't work. Oh, and that also means half of my FUCKING SONGS DON'T WORK. And, I'm pretty damn sure this is irreversible damage (it says that previous versions will not be able to use it after you convert it. I didn't think to check for these things before I converted just about everything...)

No idea lost my ass. You guys have single handedly destroyed 90% of my material, most of which hadn't yet been rendered. That's A LOT time and money down the drain. I'm definitely not buying shit from you guys... ever. What a complete cluster fuck. At least WARN people about that. I could give a lesser shit about losing freeze. Losing all my presets and thus, all my automation and effects on all my existing tracks is something I would like to know about. Words can't explain how pissed off I am right now.

I'm not being cheap. I'm being poor. There's a difference. If I had the money to buy the full version, I would have done it already.

The point is, I didn't have many problems before, but now I have to start over because a lot of songs I have made are based of some of the groups that I made that NO LONGER WORK after the "upgrade".

If you'd like, you can buy it for me.
