what do you mean by compatible?

its a asio firewire soundcard, and live supports asio soundcards. what do you want to do with it?

Multimix 8 firewire is great! Have been using it for 3 yrs, lots of recording(10 ins) and live on stage. No probs, though took some time back then to get it all working right. Updating the firmware and drivers helped, I'd think it will be smooth by now.

Very satisfied for the money, but again, the pre-amps are what you pay for.

Enjoy

Alesis power supplies are balls too. Read a few horror stories about people getting through loads of them then mine blew the other week. Still waiting for a replacement.

In all honesty, I see the multimix firewire as a cheap way of multitracking. The desk itself sucks. The eq sounds rubbish and the effects are useless. You can't edit them at all. The routing sucks too.

Im not much of a gear nerd but I think its a good mixer.

Also the first mixer Ive ever bought. The preamps are pretty decent the mixer's ease of use is really a great selling point.

It is light but sturdy and it has been doing a great job for me so far.

Its all about what you need it for. I use it to record live sessions and live instruments jaming or playing along with an ableton set for that it is great.

I'm just comparing it to other desks I've used that's all. As a means of getting multiple tracks recorded at once it's ideal. I do that then eq and mix in logic. I'm just saying that as a mixer on it's own it doesn't really cut it in my opinion.

I've been using one for a while now About 2 years. First with Cubase and then I discovered Live... haven't looked back. Live just gobbled it up. You should make sure your drivers are updated and installed properly because if you don't and an error occurs they are no fun to get out. I had to spend hours in the registry... Outside of that no problems. That mess started when I was performing an update. Just make sure to download everything you need then install and go.

** Just don't forget to turn off the audio on your motherboard (if you have it) as the MultiMix replaces the sound card...

Live works really well with the Alesis, but like the other guy says you get what you pay for as far as extras go. No problems here with recording in MICs, bass, guitar and keys though. For the price I don't think you can do much better.

Anyone got the MultiMix8USB? (non-usb 2)

I've got a friend who's looking for one mostly to use as a standalone mixer and I'd suppose to do a little tracking in Live.

How's the latency, etc?

For $149 (usd) seems reasonable to me. Any reason to go to usb2 or firewire?
