i have a black 15 macbook first gen, I had 2 x 512 standard apple ram and recently upgraded to 2 gigs of apple ram. My computer does not seem to be running any better, esp when using Ableton or Logic 8 they actually seems worse, when I did the same thing in my tower there was a huge diff but that was sweetwater ram....it shows up as being installed when I click on "about this mac" please help...

before I could run 2 - 3 versions of Massive before it got bad, now with one it starts cuting out, Ive tried every configuration i can think of with the settings in the preferences (ableton) ie: sample rates, bits rates, multi core, etc etc - its really weird. i really dont know a whole about ram, is apple ok?

Are you sure the problem is not due to the latest OS update, which introduced a bug relating to Airport? Try switching airport down and see if the problem disappears. If it does, it had nothing to do with the Ram you bought.

its not so much glitches and pops as the meter in ableton will actually spike up to 80% its like its totaly overloaded

I'm sort of having the same issue, I think. I need to get hold of my original 2 gigs of ram first before I can decided, but when I bought 4 gigs online, Live and all apps seem to run slower. It is recognized and everything, but it's slower, I think. 1 instance of Analog in Live 7 will push my CPU meter to 23% sometimes...that's with NO OTHER programs on, only Live 7, airport off, etc. No other tracks or effects. Odd. But like I said, my 2gigs are at my apartment at school downstate. Gonna go down and pick them up this weekend.

Ouch, that had to hurt. Would love to know what you paid for that RAM. I'd recommend returning it to Apple and buying 8 times as much from www.macsales.com

maybe you got a faulty stick of ram have you tried pulling out the old stick and try running with just your new one?

Or maybe it just wasn't seated properly, wierd things can happen and the os can still see the stick but it's not making proper contact with the board
