Well I've always wondered about this:

What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object?

That's my problem, I can't get my head round it! You gotta give me something more than that!

Well tell us something about it. How does it work with Live? The build quality? If a baby sucks on it will they get Chinese lead poisoning?

1. Do you think the nocturn can be used as a DJ mixer controlling mixing of tracks and effects? Is automap intuitive enough for this?

2. Can you link 2 nocturns to your comp? I've been wondering about this.

You guys are unbelievable. The history of this music we create was built on so many more limitations than a fucking usb port being two inches from where your wet dreams say it should.

I always hate the dismissive suggestion of "build your own" but in this case it applies.

Ah! yeh i was going to get around to that...busy mapping my plugins still....
..well so far i'm very pleased, haven't really mapped it up with Live yet so i'll get back to that, i reckon it's built quite well, the knobs and crossfade are not to loose, they do wobble a smidgen but i only noticed since i was trying to wobble them (for checking sake), and i wouldn't let a baby go near my baby!

1.I should think so, Nocturn controls Live using the Automap MIDI Client function which basically gives you 8 MIDI knobs, buttons and a MIDI crossfader to play with per Page (i.e. at a time) and you can have as much Pages as you like. so 127 CCs x 16 Channels = 2032 CCs, only thing is you can't have one knob/button sending CC message on Channel 1 and another knob/button sending CC messages on Channel 2 on a Page, since it arranges the channels in Groups (Groups have the Pages in them) but selecting a Group is quick (quicker then selecting a Page at times). Controlling effects (VST) is totally separate from Automap MIDI Client (it's better), although you can still use Automap MIDI Client to control your VST effects.

2.Not sure.

Agreed, bad design.
unlucky...the design worked out alright for me, just enough space on my desk.

But the market is so much different now, that we can afford to dismiss hardware on such criteria. Besides, it's not like I desperately need it - if I did I wouldn't be as critical about port position ;)

Now, you can get angled USB cables, but in Denmark that means sort of special import and shit. No fun.
