Does such a thing exist?

I've recently been looking at these:
http://www.korg.com/gear/prod_info.asp? ... egory_id=2
(Korg Zero4)
But the cost a fortune for basically a midified DJ mixer.
Does anyone make anything like that that's just a control surface?
All the controllers I've seen are either too simple like the Vestax VCM-100 or look good but not quite right like the Livid Ohm.

I had the same issue, I don't think it exisits yet. I looked at the Bitstream 3x but found it a flimsy, too many buttons/controllers and the killer thing for me, the cross fader is sooo small and not in the right place for 'proper' DJ'ing using Live. No crossfader on the Novation but you may not need one.
I looked at loads of other controllers but finally went for the Livid Ohm Wood controller in the end and have created a template for Live 7 that works really well. 64 pads assigned to clips so I can throw samples into the mix, not velocity sensitive pads but hey the crossfader in right place and there's loads of other rotaries/buttons to assign to Live functions. I would have prefered 3 or 4 vertical rotaries for EQ assignment but 4 horizonal rotaries for each channel on the Ohm works OK. I would say the Ohm is a must for VJ'ing, especially if you use Livid Union.
What I really wanted was a Pioneer DJM-800 style controller for Live BUT no audio/effects just MIDI, and cost around £300/£400 that would be perfect!!!

I think what would be idea is for novation to update the remote25sl. If they put longer throw faders on and a cross fader i think it could be the ultimate live controller
I own a 25sl and think it is an amazing bit of kit. my only gripe is the resolution of the faders. The crossfader isn't such an issue for me as i dont DJ, but it would be ideal for those that do DJ.
The automap2 features are worth the price alone.
Maybe check out the nocturn as an intermediate. It so insanely cheap it defies belief

If cant but zero4 i sugest buy Remote SL Zero or wait for new vestax controller (liitle expensive bu really good)
Combination of BCF 2000 + BCR 2000 its really great option.
The only bad point of the Remote SL Zero are the short faders, just that is awesome unit.
Another possible feature if you use windows is test my software
www.monotouchlive.com , if you live in USA 15 inchd capacitive lcd touchscreen its cheap and you have powerfull controller.
I make the software 100% free in few weeks, so you not have to pay for the software.

I like this one for basic DJ work:
Feena FMDJ9303
It is actually rather smallish, 12.22"x9"x1.75", which is nice. USB bus powered. Has both a USB & a MIDI port. It's made of metal, very rugged & high quality.
Plus all the buttons are illuminated.
But they are discontinued, & you'll probably have to find one used. Well with the hunt though.

Thanks for some great ideas here.
That Evolution controller looks OK, but it's discontinued I think.
I too would like a DJM 800 type controller with the audio. Boo hoo.

Wait for Vestax's VCM-600!
I've tried it and it's really well-thought for live performance, whether for DJ sets or live PA
It will come out this summer
