The encoder knob needs to be replaced and it needs to be cleaned up a little, but it works and it was cheap as balls.

The second best gear purchase I made was an Ampeg B2R with Ampeg 1x10" and 1x15" cabs for $600. Everything was in PERFECT condition save for some tolex wear. And it came with expensive patch cables too.

I've been lucky in the last six months. How about you?

1. Virus TI Polar. It's fairly obvious why. Every time I use it, I learn something new and love it more and more.

2. M-Audio Profire 2626. This replaced my MOTU Ultralite and I have never been so happy about owning a new sound card ever in my life. The 2626 has a super flexible routing matrix, has super low latencies, and is so tiny considering the I/O options it gives you.

Sound Workshop 1280B console. Great way to make music.

I've bought and sold so much gear over the years, that I can't really keep up with 'what was good'!

I've recently gotten back into Logic 7 as Live (for composing) is chewing up my CPU like a kid in a gun shop, so I'd say that it was the 'best thing' I've bought over the years.

However, Live has proven to be the be-all-and-end-all for performance, and inspiration (wiping my custom-build Reaktor ensemble off the map). So, maybe it'll be Live.

Still want to get a hardware synth of some kind. eVolver? Virus Ti Snow? Hmm...

Well, I'm looking for stuff that was incredibly underpriced... Like the 303 for a pitcher!

either a soundcraft 400B which i got delivered for free, or an Access Virus C desktop in mint condition which i got for £450.
