whats the best way to sample in ableton?

Post by tnevz » Mon Jun 09, 2008 1:46 am

I've been using the drum rack to sample since I upgraded to live 7.
I havent been able to find a way to speed up the time with the drum rack though. I used impulse with live 6 and you can adjust the time with that but you only have 8 sample pads and when you adjust the time it sounds kinda choppy. When using sampler If you play the sample in a higher key it plays faster and vice versa. I havent found a time control for the sampler, but I have only used the demo. So, once again, What do you think is the best way to sample with ableton?

Also am I the only one who has a problem with choppiness when slowing down and speeding up samples or an audio file? I'm wondering if my computer is too slow. :?:

Thanks

There is no time stretching currently in the drum rack / simpler.

You can warp samples by using clip envelopes (repitch mode speed up the sample, the pitch increases etc).

Impulse does allow you to adjust the time.

Although I have Sampler, I quite often just grab audio clips, set the loop points and use the clip envelopes to warp/pan/transpose etc. Force of habit as I have only had Sampler since upgrading from L6 to L7 Suite.
