Sonar 2008 - Sonar Pub & Ed Banger Records

Post by dallas! » Mon Jun 23, 2008 10:58 pm

If anybody can help it would be greatly appreciated.

I've just returned from Sonar 2008 and am trying to identify a track

I'd gone to Sonar Saturday evening and was just about ready to leave (so sometime around 4-5am) I'd gone back out to the Sonar Pub having seen Dubfire playing some savage techno, so I'm guessing it was between 33.30 to 5am

Which would mean I was seeing either

Nil
Krazy Baldhead or
SebastiAn

one of them played this wierd tune, it was, as best as I can describe, off kilter/off beat, it wasn't a 4x4 beat pattern, was more like a skippy DnB tempo, but was not DnB, all I can remember is there was a male vocal over the top, rapping (i think) and his voice was getting progressively higher in pitch (I think)

any help in identifying it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

He's been pretty sparse these past several weeks. Shoot him a PM.

No shit. I didn't say I wonder why he hasn't been around.

That part was pretty clear to me.

Smart ass. Go to sleep.

I'm working - what's *your* excuse to be in this godforsaken place?

Uberzone & Rennie Pilgrem have a really sick song called Black Widow that fits your description. Sick breaks with a jamacian sounding dude rapping - increasing in pitch.

Nope, just checked it and it not that one, was much more stripped back, a simple kick, hat and a bassline + vocal....although there might have been more going on too. And I think the arrangement/tempo was slower, but would then double up to be a DnB tempo if a normal 4x4 pattern were applied.........I think.

Cheers though guys.
I've also PM'd KB to see if he can help, but please keep the suggestions coming.
