Killing "live 6.0.7.exe" process - Win XP Pro
Killing "live 6.0.7.exe" process - Win XP Pro
Does anyone have a solution to this one???
When Im working in Live & it crashes Ive noticed that more often then not it stays open on task manager. Ive tried to end the process on "Live 6.0.7.exe" but it just wont move off task manger.
The problem with this is if I was working on a large track which takes up 1GB of RAM or more (shown in task manager on the mem usage collumn) it doesnt give the RAM back to the system.
It will let me launch a second instance of Live but the original session just sits in task manager eating up the RAM. The only way to close it, is to completely reboot the system.
Ive tried Live 5, 6 & 7 - they all do the same
Ive also tried running live on Win XP Pro x32 Bit & x64 Bit - still the same.
Is there a process or service that will kill live fully withoput having to shutdown & restart?

It would be better if you could find out why Live is locking up in the first place, but in the meantime Process Explorer is the king of Windows task managers:Deland01 wrote:Is there a process or service that will kill live fully withoput having to shutdown & restart?

If you like it, you can set it to replace the built-in task manager so it comes up when you select task manager from the task bar or ctrl-alt-del.
PS - the keyboard shortcut for task manager is ctrl-shift-esc.
All the gear but no idea.

same happens to me all the time. i dont think midi controllers are the problem, as in my experience its been the audio unit itself. i think unplugging your audio unit (assuming you have an external one of course) is the best solution. you can plug it right back in as soon as the process is finally killed.
Got the MIDI connected into the external Sound Blaster box which is Part of the Sound Card. I turned the keyboard power off when I had the problem last but it still didn’t resolve it.
I also used to get the problem with a USB connection in Win XP 32 Bit. I recon this is going to be a royal pain in the ass to resolve.
I'll have a look as the process explorer thing.
Cheers for that.
