anybody know what drum machine sound Prince put on all his own records? you know the one....it's kind of woody but distinctly lo-fi drum machine, and he would usually program rolls and accents with it to spice up the main beat.

by the way...just noticed you're in St. Paul. i'm in south Minneapolis. are you involved in any live music projects in town? that's so appropriate you'd have the Prince knowledge

At the moment, no. Between my real job and other things (such as the seven forums I moderate for NI), I haven't had a lot of free time in the last year. I do sit in on guitar every once in a while with friends' bands around town, and I'm working on something with the members of
Sordid Business that will eventually be a live show...

FWIW, it's not LinnDrum, but the LM-1. The LinnDrum was the LM-2...

You're correct in saying he used the LM-1. And, you're correct in saying the later version was actually named LinnDrum. However, back in the '80s, you heard
all of the Linn drum machines being referred to as LinnDrums; hence my usage of the term.
