Quantization/Groove Templates or an MPC?

Im about to move to Ableton to write, from Logic.
From what I can tell you cant set up groove templates in Ableton like you can in Logic. Is this right?
Can you swing quantize at all in Ableton? If you cant im going to buy an MPC to handle drums. I find hard to believe you cant set up groove templates, but ill purchase the MPC if I have to.
If this is the case, I was looking at the 2500. Is anyone else using a 2500 with Ableton? How are you looking after audio routing? Are you monitoring on your console/audio interface or in Ableton?
Thanks.

Actually there is some groove template in live, check about Global groove amount in the manual.
But in my opinion it doesn't sound as good as the mpc.
Before buying an mpc, I would suggest you to have a look at Fxpansion's Guru :
http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=4
works really well with live and you'll get the great mpc swing + a lot more.

Iv got Guru, that I was using with Logic. What put me off was the fact that you cant assign mono aux channels in multimode. I mean who wants a stereo kick drum?
Apparently, this was a logic specific issue, so we might be all cool here. I like the whole battery idea where you can have everycell on its own output. It seems with guru, you can only have each engine on its own output.
I also want to be able to flick through samples really quickly. I find it so much more intuitive when I can load up a bank of hats on say an EXS24 patch & just *find* the right one or something that with a bit of work sounds really cool.
Hey can you load the MPC groove templates that are floating around the net into Guru?

You have to copy the MPC grove templates to your Guru grooves folder.

there is a feature where in arrange view if you put loops in multiple tracks and warp the top one, the ones below will follow. Live 6 and later I think, check your manual.

template on A
drums on B
warp A, B follows (as would C, D, E, F...) it's used to warp entire bands that were recorded on separate tracks. the top track is the master.

glad to help, it keeps me out of trouble, mostly.
I was kinda wrong, page 130 in the L7 manual
Multi-Clip Warping
When clips of equal length are multi-selected, adding or changing Warp Markers for one
clip will apply identical Warp Markers to all. This is convenient in any situation where several
tracks have the same rhythm, and you wish to alter the timing of each recording in the same
way. A common scenario would be when multi-tracking a band’s performance, where the
musicians all play in time with each other, yet the timing itself is in some way awed.
start reading on page 125.
ugh, it'd be GREAT if an actual Ableton employee who really knew this stuff would haunt the forum.

there are none but you can use this to use the groove from one loop to set others.
I haven't done this, I've just seen it discussed and read that bit of the manual. maybe someone can chime in with better advice.
