Rex Files

So i took a song into recycle and marked all of the beats (which, it turns out, was completely unnecessary) and when I put it in ableton, it'll play, but I can't quantize the beat. Auto quantization didn't work right so I'm going in to quantize it manually, but I can't move any of the markers for some reason and the warp button refuses to be high lit. So does that mean I can't warp the file or do i have to do something different to it?

You can't warp a rex file. It seems that 'rex mode' is sort of a special warp mode in and of itself.
in a rex file you're not telling the sample what beats are where... you're just defining "slicing" points so that beats aren't cut up in the middle of individual drum hits.
If you took a rex file and played it at it's original tempo, you should be able to resample it in Ableton and then warp it or reslice it to a drum rack or sampler.

Without testing it, but from my mind...
- If you drag&drop a rex file into a track, it is handled like a normal wav or mp3. Warping and everything should work.
- If you want to use the rex slices you have to right click the rex file in the live browser and select "slice to new midi track".
