Anyone care to provide some knowledge on how Todd Edwards might go about creating the complex vocal cut ups that he is so well known for?
Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Trying to figure out if Simpler, Sampler, or even a Drum Rack with sliced vocal syllables would be the most effecient.

Hi!

I think you already got it right there: Warp the desired Vocal sample, and let Live slice it to a new Midi track. It will give you a few options on how to construct the workprocess of this Midi track, and there you just have to try these options. It always works great for me. By just fiddling around with the Midi blocks, you'll get amazing results.

Cheers, pbanken

The Phat Conductor has put up some wicked tips for doing this on this very forum. Do a search...

The main thing TPC said was that the slice points should be user defined - and not defined by Live.

I used fast efx to record out lots of loops and stutters, then rearranged it all togehter, using filters, reverb and delays to melt it all together... quite close to what your after.
