VST plug-ins question ('cause i'm a newbie)

i'm trying to use live as a daw. i have a mastering plug-in that uses vst or AU but i can't seem to connect the two together.
has any one used IK multimedias 't-racks' rtas with os x vst and au upgrade before?
has any one tried t-racks with live, how did you get it working?
