Umbriel Rising is proud to present Kaleidoscope Skies EP for free download. It is 18 minutes 51 seconds of a mini symphony dedicated to the sound of vintage analog synths, a continuous flowing piece with 5 movements :

Movement#1 - Prophet Jupiter VIII
Movement#2 - Pharoah's Moog
Movement#3 - Beyond The Black Hole
Movement#4 - Interplanetary Love
Movement#5 - Last Exit From Umbriel

Kaleidoscope Skies aims to recapture the great synth sounds of pioneer keyboardists such as Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson, Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Jan Hammer, Tony Banks, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Rick Wright etc. Serious retro old skool synth players.

The synth sounds are (digital recreations using Arturia's excellent plugins) including Moog Modular, Minimoog, Prophet 5, CS80, ARP 2600 and Jupiter 8. No other sounds except a couple of spoken word samples and ambient backgrounds.

The drum machines are also all vintage from the Roland CR78, TR707, 808, 909, Oberheim DMX and Linn Drum from Ableton's Drum Machines.

I dig the sounds a lot, and the mix is crisp and clear. You really capture the vibe of those pioneers. Reminded me a lot of JM Jarre. As you say, its a mini-symphony. I don´t know, if I were you maybe I´d split the symphony into just 5 different songs, without mixing them together. Each song is really so expressive by itself, that it might be better to contemplate them separatly.

Do you own all those synths?
