Bought the album too, listen to it a few times, but i don't understand it really. His programming skills are exceptional, sounddesign is special, ok. But emotionally it doesn't touch me for one second. Maybe someone can explain it to me.

Due his music's robotic and choppy nature, it's difficult to feel it since it seems so cold and disconnected. Maybe if you were a robot, Flying Lotus's jams would be your gospel music. I bet Wall-E rocks Lotus's music til the LEDs turn red while he's doing it with EVE.

Nah - 1983's better!
Anybody seen him yet? God Damn! I haven't seen many folk mix up DnB, Dubstep and HipHop as flawlessly as this dude....he's got such a superstar presence about him considering he stands behind a laptop and finger trigger!

yeah, good stuff!
i hadn't heard any new electronic stuff i liked in a while and then i stumbled upon the "asteroids" style game with his sound design on it.
then i checked out his stuff and was super impressed.
really really good.

what's his technique, i've been hearing two things seems like half the people who like him say he's doing lots of genius programming and the other half say he's just doing what j-dilla and the like do but instead of the mpc using the triggerfinger and live, i saw a video where he was playing and
this guy standing next to him kept telling the crowd that he was playing live no loops, but it was clear that he was playing loops. anyway whatever he's doing it sounds good to my ears.

Flying Lotus definitely comes from J-Dilla, but for me it sounds like hip hop done on laptops more than an MPC if that makes any sense.
Hudson Mohawke is another good example of this style....
Its not as glitchy as the Glitch Mob who I find kind of overkill at times - a bit more soulful IMHO....
its killer stuff - love how the beats are just...slightly....off
