I can't record loops on the fly of 1 bar or any exact size.
Let' say I have music going and want to add a 1 bar bass loop, I click on the record clip in session, 2 bar countdown starts, then recording starts, BUT it doesn't stop after 1 bar, that I set as global, it keeps going...
How or what do I set up to stop recording and start looping after the 1 bar loop???

you can hit the record button again to trigger the same MIDI and it will cut it off. You can actually hit it twice in a row, just make sure you hit it again before the 1 bar is up. Or it will make 2,3,4,5 etc.

Thanx for reply, I tried that and it is better, but still I have to "watch" the recording, to click the recording button again before the end of bar...
I was hoping just to hit the record spot in the clip, record,it stops recording after 1,2,4 bars whatever and starts looping...

I've only just started using Live, so I may be wrong, but I think that if you create the MIDI clip first and set it to the length you want, then it will stay that length. So if you create a 4 bar MIDI clip that is empty, then when you record into it, it'll automatically loop at the end of the 4 bars (assuming you haven't set up a follow action to do anything else).

That totally works for midi and it's something i've been doing, but how do you get that to happen with audio?

no, you don't have to watch the recording. all you have to do is set quant right, and then double-click (which will punch in on the quant, punch out on the next). don't get me wrong, i'd like to be able to set the audio loop length up front at times too (and be able to have tempo dictated by first loop recorded, etc.). but what you've id'd isn't really a problem.

counting beats/bars is a pain, but for live looping, its probably a good habit to be in, esepecially if you were improvising.

actually, i take it back. double clicking didn't work. i have to click to punch in and to punch out still. is there any way around having to punch out?

yes. set quantization to the length of loop you want. then doubleclick. the first click will start record, the second click will play the loop (and thus stop recording) after the quantization/loop length setting. doubleclicking works.
