Ableton Forum

I hope that Live 8 will include a set of features they might title the "Power DAW Package" or something of that nature. I want:

1. CROSS-FADES in arrangement view (like in DP, Pro Tools, etc.)
2. MULTIPLE TAKES on a track (like in DP, Pro Tools, etc.)
3. TRACK GROUPS (like in DP, Pro Tools, etc.)

Yes, these are features that exist in more standard DAW applications and would not provide something new or unique, BUT it would mean that I would be able to use Ableton from start to finish in my productions, which would be fantastic. Live has become so central to our workflow in song writing that many of our songs develop straight from demoing and general screwing around with ideas to finished tracks. My life would be a LOT easier with these 3 simple features.

I hope these are common requests and that Ableton is listening.

From another angle, I am looking forward with great anticipation to what the Cycling '74 collaboration will bring. (Hopefully the ability to set different default loop prefs for each channel in session view, and many other bits of voodoo.)

YES!!!

I would like to see Ableton handles 'multiple takes' and 'loop recording' simmilar to Reaper.

1. Every loop to be as a new file either on the hard drive or just as a audio clip or slice (arrangemetn view).
2. Choose how to be viewed all the recorded takes: either one above/below another, one after another or the last on top of the previous (on top)
3. Crossfades now are not so intuitive. They just have to be clip based (and stay into the clip!), not so envelope based as they are now

This is a missing feature that keeps me away from buying ableton for last 6 years.

Ableton 8 does have group tracks and cross fades. Only the multi-takes is missing - which is missing big time!!
