MidiYoke/MidiOx can do this.

It's free. (Woo-Hoo...)

You need the Pre-Roll Recorder. It's only 5$ australian.

Here: http://www.benedictroffmarsh.com/prollrec.html

Ups, nevermind, this is for audio, you want midi.

You could write an AutoHotkey automation (for PC), like press automatically record if (some_criteria_for_starting_recording). You have to come up with your own criteria.

For those who are interested, it's not enough to have MIDI-OX only, you also need a log text file to .mid converter: http://www.midiox.com/zip/Mtx2Midi-Installer.zip

Then what you have to setup in MIDI-OX is following:
1. click the top most left icon, it says: "Set options for Logging MIDI data to a file"
2. click Enable Logging
3. Log Format: MIDI to Text
4. File Name: path\name.mtx
5. finished!

Then you can simply drag and drop name.mtx onto the converter and you get your .mid file.
