batch covert MPEG to MOV for use in ableton

anyone know of a Windows based software (preferably free) for batch converting short MPEG clips to MOV format for use in live?

I wish live would just support MPEG directly, but anyway, not such a big deal.

I already tried VLC, and it does the conversion (stream to file with MOV transcoding), but leaves some artifacts.

Thanks in advance

I don't know if Live can parse .mp4 files but if it can then MeGUI is the best MPEG-4 AVC / h264 encoder though it has a steep learning curve and can be very slow if you want high quality output.

.mp4 should be fine as it can contain the same codec as apple's mov as long as you choose the right settings and profile.

Check this link: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=96059

In terms of your artifacts with VLC: What settings are you using? VLC should be good enough. If the artifacts are not there on the original video it must be the parameters you choose.

Oh not again :(

Avoid Super by all means. There is a thread over here for the reasons.

http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/ this is a nice free app that can batch convert, alot of file types, I use it for video, MOV to AVI, to WMV, a lot of flavor choices. Its also quite stable piece of software. But stay away from the third party updates that want your money.
