It does get hot enough to warrant moving it about on the ol' lap. but it gets much hotter in the studio...of course. All depends what I'm asking it to do.

depends what your doing, i tend to use a cooling pad most of the time with any laptop though. its better for you, the computer, and your future children.

So what you all are saying is that I can avoid the painful, costly vasectomy you all were discussing about in another thread, just by having the MBP on my lap for extended periods of time, running as many effects and plug-ins as it can handle?

OK.

I bet it doesn't get as hot as my Dell Inspiron 9100 which runs a DESKTOP Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz. Real hard man's laptop, you need balls of steel if you want to use it on your lap (and reinforced legs as it weighs 12 llbs). I enjoy powerboats, NASCAR and intravenous use of steroids.

A real hard man's machine, which is why I use it :x None of these wussy airbooks or centrino based machines, my average sh*t weighs more than most modern ladyboy laptops.

Failing that the old Powerbook G4's (esp the Titanium ones) I'm sure run a lot hotter than a Macbook, they were also good at involuntarily sterilization through charred testes. This is why they never put a G5 in a laptop, the first G5 desktops used to sound like a windfarm to cool the buggers down 8O
