Hello Everyone,

I created some tracks with live 7, House tracks, but somehow i can not get the best sound of the track, My hi hat are too hi and bass are too low, When I finalized the mixing it never sounds like the standart house tracks, What should I do, Do you know any video tutorials to explain tuning and mastering in live.

let me just add to those very fine tutorials of tarakeiths:

you've already gotten halfways there, you've identified two problems:


that if your hi hat is too high, and your bass too low, the best BEST thing to do is to turn down your hi hats, and turn up your bass track. Done!

9 times out of 10 the best solution is the easiest, simplest solution (read "mixdowns" first )... so if 20 people jump on this forum and say "side-chain compression, multiband limiting, mid-side EQ" don't get over burdened.

After that, if you are still left with that "not quite the same as professional tracks" then re-read the "mastering" guide, and take a deep breath and remember that professionals are professional for a reason: they have had lots of practice and have really good tools.

then you've got Spectrum

1. play your sample(s)

2. drop it on the Master track, set it to logarithmic

3. compare the freqs in your music with a "mastered" mp3/cd/.wav/vinyl/whatever.

What is your monitoring setup and what are you testing your final mixes on? Understanding the differences and how they translate may be your limitation here. Also as mentioned, spectrum or your favorite analyzer may shed some light for comparing things. Check out some of the multi analyzers (which I hope Spectrum is in the future) for an easy comparison.
