I have read the manual, but I cannot find an answer. Is there an efficient way to add brief moments of effect to a track at different times and with different effects?

If I want to add repeating delay to just one phrase of a verse. Is there a simple way to program that as opposed to the old analog way of mixing the song and turning up the effect for that moment?

And say in the bridge of the same track, I want to affect the vocal and make it all tinny like the Aqualung Tull song for a couple phrases. Do I have to do it in the mixdown, or is there a way to program those little touches?

well, one of the great things about live is the fact that you can map pretty much any button or switch to the keyboard. your typing keyboard, that is.

if you want to punch in an effect like you are talking about, then you put the effect on the track, adjust the effect so it sounds like you want it when it is active, then you use the power button in the top left hand corner of the effect window to turn the effect off and on..

now, with that in mind, in the top right hand corner where the cpu meter is, click the button that says KEY. You will see the whole screen change color.

Now, click on the power button for your effect, and press a key on your keyboard that you want to control that button. for instance, press the "1" key on your key board.

Now go back up to the top of the screen and press the KEY button again. The screen will return to the original color.

now you can use that "1" key to turn the effect on and off whenever you like, effectively making it the power button.

you can do this with ANY button. Or damn near any button, anyway.
